据许多使用最新泄露版的Windows 7 Beta 1 build 7000 用户反映，里面的Windows Media Player 12可能会有损坏数据的问题出现，用户可能会发现部分MP3文件的开头2-3秒被截去。来自neowin论坛的消息，这个问题仅出现在特定类型的MP3文件中（原文：Approximately 2-3 seconds will get shaved off the beginning of MP3s if you have set your Windows Media Player 12 settings to retrieve information from the internet and update files. The default configuration for WMP12 sets this if you use the "express" option during setup.）。
据该论坛的一篇文章称，这个问题仅出现在当你编辑某些特定种类MP3（该文件的Header大于16KB）的元数据（metadata）时才出现。当新的元数据写入后，这个问题就出现。不管使用WMP或Explorer进行编辑，还是让WMP自动从互联网下载元数据，甚至将MP3添加到库中都可能如此。但是此问题只是出现在最新的泄露版中，其他版本尚未出现类似Bug。
微软官方回应称，他们正关注此问题，并将在官方发布的beta版本Windows 7中解决，当然微软还将通过Windows Update发布补丁来修复这些非官方发布版本里的这个BUG。
